  1. [Discussion] The Vile Siren - Pirates!

Full Name: Viktor Nielsen Nickname: Nails Age: 32 Position: Boatswain, or Bosun Personality: Viktor shows a bitter, intimidating exterior to most on the ship, but inside he seeks revenge and is a much more hospitable man, who has been hardened by events in his life. Weapons: He usually carries a standard cutlass, flintlock pistol and a sharp, fairly long flickknife which he normally uses in his daily work on the ship. He only really carries his cutlass during skirmishes, but he never has a day without his trusty knife at his side. Skills: Having to tend to, replace and repair most parts of the ship, he has a fine attention to detail and a deft pair of hands. He is skilful with his knife in particular but his keen eyes make him a halfway decent shot when the need arises. Appearance: Bright blonde hair, grey eyes, the sides of his hair greying a little in places. Goatee/moustache. Wrinkles on his forehead. He wears a white tunic top, the sleeves rolled up past his elbows, along with traditional brown seafarer's style trousers and black boots. He has a necklace of leather around his neck, from which hangs a large shark's tooth and two smaller ones either side. History: Viktor grew up in a small port town on a Nordic coastline, where he lived with his family and ran the town's local fishery. He grew up with the knowledge of how to set up and maintain a fishing boat to an exceptional seafaring standard. That is until one fateful day when none other than the dreaded pirate ship, the Hades' Nightmare, stormed the port during the night. Viktor was struck on the head by a marauding pirate early into the attack, falling unconscious and taken to the ship as a captive. He regained his senses just to see his home-town drifting slowly away from him, in flames and ruin, not a living soul to be seen. Over the long months into years afterward, Viktor began to lose hope that his family ever got out alive, until eventually he accepted in his thoughts that they were dead, while he remained onboard serving their murderers as a souvenir of sorts to them. He quickly learned the price of disobedience, many agonising nights without sleep on a lashed back forced his hand. He started off as a deck swab like many captive new blood of a pirate ship, before his dextrous hands and skill with the rigging caught the captain's eye, earning him a new position where he would maintain and tend to all of the rigging, sails, cables and wood of the ship, keeping the Nightmare in shape as one of the most terrifying, fastest ships to sail the oceans. But still, at night, in his short moments of privacy, he thought of home. What he had lost, no, had wrenched from him. It infuriated him, how feeble he was, how completely unable he was to act against it. He was but one man against a crew of the most dangerous pirates on the waters. He noticed a young girl also on board, being taken in as the medic's apprentice, who was often taken advantage of by the crew in their long periods at sea with no female company. He could clearly see that she was also a prisoner of the crew, taken away from her own life to serve the pirates. At that, he felt a great deal of pity for her, understanding at least some of the pain that she would have been feeling. However, months on end of separation from female contact take its toll on even the most honest of men, and one night he turned to her to fulfill his own need, unable to stop himself. The sea was cruel with a man's mind that way. Afterwards however, he came up with a plan for both of them to escape. The Nightmare was due to dock for more supplies soon. Viktor's reputation had grown enough for him to be one of the leaders when it came to resupplying the ship and he would sail out to port. He stowed the young girl away under his rigging and sail parts that he was commanded to get repaired, and once they had reached the town, both slipped away from the crew members, finally free from the clutches of the Hades' Nightmare. It was there that they parted ways, but he still held the need for revenge inside him. He journeyed across the country to the other side, where a new ship was making crew, the Vile Siren...

Well, this got a little bit crazy here didn't it? Explosions, physical violence, outbursts... My god. But if you can't beat them... TREMBLE BEFORE ME, PUNY HUMANS! Exterminate Wst!
  4. Swarm Mystery 3: Solus Imperium [SWARM VICTORY!]

Seems I was a bit late to a dogfight, that's a shame, honestly. Now it's gone dark too... Even though we're in space.
  5. Swarm Mystery 3: Solus Imperium [SWARM VICTORY!]

Just so I can try to make some sense of HAL- I mean, our esteemed AI Unit's ramblings, I would like to converse with Ethereal. Nearly slipped right into the danger zone there.
  6. Swarm Mystery 3: Solus Imperium [SWARM VICTORY!]

Well then, this is a neat little cockpit. Any chance I can take it for a spin sometime, Chief? Then again... It might take me a little bit to learn all the new little interfaces and extra glowy twiddly bits on the panel. I've piloted alien ships before now though, no big deal. And fit them through asteroid gaps smaller than most standard battlecruisers. But never mind about me. I'm no Maverick here.

  9. Unexpected Duo

Talonar saw a very familiar look cross the demon girl's features, one he had made himself on many an occasion when dealing with "inferior" races. It was understandable though, she had just been snatched away from her own life and forced into servitude... Why would she like or trust anyone of these people involved, even him? He was taken slightly aback at this. "...Is this how I look at everybody? Good heavens, no wonder they hate me as much as I do them.." he mused. She looked at him, giving her name, or at least what she seemed to wish to be called. "I could choose not to give a name to a demon on the end of a collar, but I did not pay for you to be a slave or a pet to me. I wish to learn about your ways. You have something different than the others about you, I can sense it. I'm sure by now you've sensed that that collar is a weak, human-made trinket, designed for the young, the elderly or the infirm. It's little more than a decoration to the likes of an earth channeller like yourself, I'm sure." he explained, making his motives (or most of them) known. There was a short pause as they continued to venture out of the town and towards the large city in the near distance, before he continued. "As such, you are more of a test subject. You are no equal and you would do well to learn that. Your life will be spent in a wealthy estate, you shall have your own room, you shall be clothed appropriately, not as some ridiculous maid. This is all provided that you obey. Defy me, and you shall soon see a different side." he warned her, his eyes flickering across her young-looking features before zoning in on her eyes at the warning. "There is one ultimate rule of this agreement of regular food and sleep - You will never leave the mansion without me accompanying you." he continued, heavy stress on his voice in the last part as he continued on ahead, nearing the walls of the city of the Elves.
  10. Unexpected Duo

Talonar shot quick glances to the left and right of him, sneering as he saw the snooty well-to-doers put away their wallets, looking disappointed. It was quite helpful sometimes, being rich, he thought. Making his way over to the side of the stage he saw the girl being brought off, away from the rabble. Slave or no slave, she was really getting shoved around for something apparently worth six hundred of their money, he pondered. Perhaps she has an attitude on her. Humans... He sighed, mustering up his willpower to remain civil with the lowly grunt. Just a simple exchange of money and demon and he'd be out of the town. "Who the hell carries that much money on them?" Talonar heard the human mutter as he neared the two. He felt his willpower falter already. "I do, for one. Also, you would do well as to not handle demons so roughly... Not all of them are as easy to control as a female being taken by surprise.. Plus, the less you touch of her with your grubby human hands, the better. Who knows where they've been, honestly..." he commented, looking down his nose at the guard. He reached inside his robes for his purse, counting the necessary pieces out of platinum coins up to the agreed price. Still, it was a hefty bag that the elf had filled for the man. "Your payment, sir." he said, nodding at the bag. "And what is that I see? Oh, how quaint! An anti-defiance charm! You humans really can't control your pets, can you?" he chuckled, inspecting the collar as it was handed it to him. It was merely small-talk as he inspected the collar. It had some power as the human thought, but it was still very crude. From the look of the demon's face, she didn't know of its origins either. Crude, clearly. Talonar wondered whether or not this thing would even do what it was supposed to. It looked cheap, save for the rune at the front. He assumed it was a case of attaching any old straps to form a necklace to keep the rune there. Another thing that will need testing, he thought to himself. I do hate wasting money even now...Can't be having my money run herself away or anything in the middle of the night... Would be troublesome indeed. "Well then, I'd best be going- Oh! How could I forget!" he exclaimed melodramatically, before approaching the demon girl and looping the collar over her neck, clasping it at the back and stepping away, the collar now seemingly giving off a faint, rather surprisingly pleasant glow against her soft skin. "The niceties must be observed, of course. We will be leaving now, miss..?" he said, trailing off to get her name from her. He was giving her the same piercing gaze as he had done when she was on the stage. It was not a look of disgust, or pity. It was intrigue, of analysis, almost.
  11. Unexpected Duo

Talonar so hated the hustle and bustle of the crowds. He should have known better than to venture into this village on what seemed like an eventful day. A public execution? No, there were too many condemned for a mass hanging, he thought to himself. Yet they were crowding by the gallows, loud voices erupting from the mass of people. Loud voices... Loud smells too, he muttered under his breath, covering his nose with a silken red handkerchief. He could almost smell the poverty, emanating from the waves of people at the very back, too low in the social strata to afford a better view. He had to get a better spot, he had to get closer to the front, if only, he thought, to save the fibres in his handkerchief from rotting. Talonar had caused quite a commotion as he wriggled and forced his way through the rabble. Many had made unpleasant gestures his way, or muttered obscene threats as he disappeared forward still through to the front. This seemed to be where all the nobles and rich folk stood, he thought. He could tell from how they dressed and the absence of the stench of commoners he so despised. They were still other people, however and remained in his way. It was then that he practiced, with gritted teeth, the manners that his mother had taught him so long ago, to slither his way through to the front row of the crowd. It was rare that he mingled, but it seemed he still had some grace in his ways when he put his mind to it. "Now then, whatever is all this fuss ab-" he thought aloud, pausing mid-sentence as he saw what really was going on. His mouth lay slightly agape for the minute or two that it took to register what was going on. Demons, magical creatures, being pawned off to the highest bidders as if they were meat! If no one bid, if no one saw the demons on show fit to purchase, as no doubt a slave, they were presumably to be executed and deemed a worthless capture. Now, it was true in Talonar's eyes, they were not elves and so were still beneath him, but he held anything magical in a higher regard than creatures that could barely utter arcanespeak, let alone use it. Only just, though. "This here is a beautiful female demon, seeming to be from the earthy-groups. Bidding starts at 150 gold pieces!" The auctioneer began. In his filthy hands stood a clearly petrified demon woman. A rare breed at that, being of the earthy-groups. Although, he could've sensed that without the scruffy human's help. Quite unique, he thought, sensing no stronger similar power in the entirety of the cartloads of demons gathered today. His years of research sparked his intrigue. He could barely believe was he was about to do; it was against every personal moral he held before. His hand raised. Time to give these"rich" humans something to chew on, he thought, with a sneer. "Six hundred!" he called. The potential was too great. He'd be damned if anyone in this crowd had a shade over six hundred and fifty gold in their entire coffers, let alone their measly purses. It was clear he had sparked some attention, many of the nobles making very uncomfortable, quite defeated noises behind their waxed moustaches. Anyone other than the front row would have no chance at all, he imagined. He kept his hand raised until the auctioneer acknowledged his bid to be legitimate, which seemed to be taking him some considerable time and effort. His eyes, however, were burning holes right into those of the demon's. Ambition and eagerness that he had thought long since faded away had risen to the surface again, confusing and exciting him at the same time.
  12. I better get one of these started up I suppose! Name: Talonar Esperi Race: Elf Age: Apparent age: 27. Actual age: Around 240. Gender: Male Appearance: Talonar has sleek, elbow-length silvery-white hair and vivid green eyes. Like most elves, he is quite slender, however he seems very slightly larger around the waistband than most of his kin. Not fat, but a sign of never falling hungry for too long in his life. He has a sharp, narrow nose and an unblemished smile, which is a rare sight from him. He usually wears his hair in a simple ponytail at the back, not feeling the same urges of vanity as many others of his race. He dresses in a selection of neat mage robes, which are typically strapped around his waist with a belt of black leather, a large jewel covering the main buckle. He hated the flappy, overly elaborate robes of other magic folk, his robes clinging closer to him, somewhat like a suit. Powers: Talonar spent most of his life up to this point in deep study. Growing up in the magical capital of the elves and tutored by the best money could by, he had developed some experience in elemental manipulation. He can generate and manipulate shards of ice, spheres of fire, chains of lightning and spikes of earth, without personal harm. Use of his powers in this magnitude, however, still drains him enough for him to need to rest for a short while, so he limits full on use until he is endangered or tested. With the wisdom of the elves behind him, he also has a fluent understanding of some of the local languages, local meaning that of the wild and of elementals. He had little patience for the company of other races and saw them below him, not bothering to try to learn their tongues. History: Talonar was born into a wealthy family. His father was a scholar and saw no reason at all why anything would stop his son from following in his footsteps. His mother, reluctant that he was not spending very much time with other people and making friends, still allowed this, only wanting greatness for her son. He spent many years in libraries and archives, reading up on anything remotely close to regarding the arcane. He had the knowledge and the sharp (and painful) tutelage of practice of his powers under his belt by his fiftieth year, choosing to continue improving his knowledge and becoming the curator of the biggest libraries of the city. Money was no object under his parents, after all. He saw other people as means to his ends, rather than colleagues or peers. Spoilt, definitely. Eventually he began to travel, having grown weary of his own town's knowledge and people. He continues to journey around the world in pursuit of new knowledge to improve the mastery of his powers.

  14. So here's the deal. I was originally on here under a different, older name. When the original S*T died a death I stopped visiting the rebuilt one, but kept in touch with a bunch of people who used to (and still) frequent the forum. Then came the ill-fated day where my memory of my passwords, confused forum identities and just overall dumb stuff prevented me from remembering how to actually ever get onto that account again. Rip in peace, Ele-Mental. So I get to speaking with a whole bunch of the S*Ters on Skype again after probably literally years. I felt welcomed, I felt re-introduced. I felt compelled to re-join the forums under a new more recent pseudonym, after a little - Okay, maybe a lot- of coercion from certain individuals. So here the story rejoins to the present. Here I am. This time, I hope to be a teeeeny tiny bit more active too. Hai.
