Mitsuba Academy: Demon Hunters 2

108 posts in this topic

Just to confirm, she's a second-year, right?

To explain her absence earlier on, I guess she's missing mysteriously again just as you mentioned. Your call on why she's absent, though.

The Kage no Ha Setsuna would be your Demon Reaper, presumably. It's what enhances Hyper-Mind into a functional power -- just having your brain wired unusually probably won't be enough to put your awareness on a level useful for demon hunting. As a heirloom tied to the miko lineage, it probably grants or at least enhances After Image as well. So generally, its power is giving a boost to your existing abilities.

As a side note, almost all Demon Reapers enhance your physical ability to close to peak human ability, can be dematerialized (though this might take a varying amount of time or be otherwise limited) and will help stave off the effects of severe injuries.

If she's 16 years old she should be a first year I think. It would be better in that way anyway, so that Lavalley will be able to bring her into the Lit Club easier, and the Art Club can proceed now that everyone's here.

In any case, don't worry about post lengths Shadow. :)

I'm sure I read somewhere that it was summer, just going crazy apparently. Anywho, I've changed that bit out now. Obviously I missed the part about a Demon Reaper being able to materialize, but I like the idea thay Shu carries it around with him so I'll keep it like that for the time being.

I guess it's because I said it's the start of the school year. That kinda varies from place to place, that's true.

But the start of the year is a ~logical~ place to start a new school year~

If you don't give a shit about the seasons at least.

I had actually planned on her being a second year. If you read her history it says she was a first year already. At 16 she'd generally be a second year as well. But I can change whatever needs be. I'm confused enough by all this that I wouldn't know what goes on anyway. ^.^ And I'll update the blade to be something after I finish reading the blocks of text. I thought you meant she could be born with certain powers when you said Miko's have powers. I was stupid.

Timey suggested 1st year mainly because there's only two of them in the RP. Almost everyone else is second year, so some balance might help.

Powers passed down by bloodline used to be quite potent, so a Miko could be born with powers... However, most of these bloodlines got diluted ages ago and most are shadows of the originals, so an individual with a great talent just from bloodline alone would be about as rare as a Scion or Transcendent -- I.e. as rare as a good smelling fart.

Well then the real question here is am I a first year or second year? You guys pick. It's your RP. I'll go ahead and change my characters powers while I wait.

In the interest of balance I'm inclined to say 1st year, unless you're against it for whatever reason.

Art Club students can go ahead and post in the new thread now. You don't have to want to join the Art Club, you could just be there because you saw the message on the flyers. When you enter the room, you will see Akira sitting half-naked, facing away from the entrance, staring straight at you with a smile. Image provided below. He will strike a pose and ask you to draw him on one of the various canvases located in the room, and give you a good sniff while you're drawing.

As a person who is join the lit club, will I be needing to read the art clubs forum to keep up with things there as well? Just need to know what my priorities are.

EDIT: Oh oh! Did Westie run into my lovely Aiko-chan? *hint hint*

No I didn't. That was a completely different girl.

It's not strictly necessary, but it might help you connect the dots about some things faster probably.

Also, if you find it more fitting you could choose to join the Art Club; we have an odd number of players at present so it's really up to you.

Changed my reaper because apparently an armor that can siphon kinetic energy means that every fight will start and end with a grapple.

And possibly a kinniku buster.

Seems like the heroes have racked up their first kill! Horosho! But do not rest just yet!

Shadow, if you're up for posting, the first fight got concluded already, so if you want to start the first day killing something, just pick some place in town and there'll be someone to fight.

DD, you can kick off the werewolf fight if you like. The teams's probably going to go along with your usual modus operandi -- you're up against predators after all.

Didn't really pan out that way so eh, I'll save that method for a time of fewer ideas. Anyway tag, you guys are in.

Now is fighty fighty time, blood blood blood~

If Yajuu ends up posting before I do, heads up on the Warlock we're up against: He regenerates, has sharp, sharp claws and big teeth, and his Thrall looks like this.

It's enough to hold its own against all three of us at once, so best option is probably to take down the Warlock~

His thralls don't seem to be very intimidating if you don't mind me saying. Rather one-dimensional too.

Yup those are his Thralls.

(At least I didn't link to some creepy Russian headless mannequin porn that, to your horror, you also recognize)

Okay, proper image this time.

Ah, very good. Both fights for this episode have been sort of concluded. Art Club students can rest assured that the Warlock is pretty much dead now.

I'm thinking Shu needs a bit of a power boost though. Despite his bluster he seems to be the weakest of all the characters (excepting Berserker, who doesn't even have her weapon yet) by a rather noticeable margin, since his powers take a long time to charge and have zero utility or defensive functions. I'd suggest a regenerative or life-leeching secondary effect -- it'd help to explain how you aren't dead of blood loss yet, and fits his high-risk fighting style.

And here I was worrying I'd overpowered him O.o

But yeah, I can see that. I like the idea of a life-leeching secondary effect; I can link it in to the pleasurable feeling he gets whenever he uses Kuronarabi's abilities. Perhaps (as with his main ability) he gains an equal regenerative boost to the damage he does to an opponent. Although I'd probably say that it doesn't literally regenerate him (like wolverine-style) but instead reduces the seriousness of wounds he gains e.g. a life threatening wound to his lungs would be reduced to cracked rib. or something along those lines anyhow.

Actually, regeneration would work fine, it just doesn't have to be fast enough to repair damage completely in the time frame typical of a fight -- effectively, the power would be the latter despite just being a slower version of the former. Erin also has a regenerative power, and it fixes average battle wounds within hours and nastier things like compound fractures in days (she's all out of luck when it comes to amputations, though), for reference. Yours could be stronger, since it's proportional to your 'super meter' and you can't use it on others.

Also, I'd hardly call an ability overpowered if all I need to do to nullify it is to make him fight enemies with no blood whatsoever. Which could be far too common, considering a good deal of Thralls might end up looking like rejects from Evangelion. In addition, it doesn't seem to prevent regeneration, as seen from his thoughts when he kills the Warlock (if it did, he wouldn't be worrying about the possibility), so using that finishing move on that same guy's Thralls would just leave you with three angry Thralls.

You'll probably upgrade on that power eventually, anyway. This is like a really unoriginal Jump comic after all.
