Here are my characters! Maya will have several Champions, including Frank and Mei, as well as a following called 'The Enlighteners' as stated in her profile below.
 

Name: Maya Iyengar, the Ã†therborn Planeswalker (Contender)

Age: 22

Personality: Maya has a cheerful, bubbly personality. Others usually find her quite expressive and shares her emotions quite openly even with newly-made friends. She can be rather clumsy at times, often tripping over rocks on the ground or walking into glass doors without noticing. Despite her friendliness, Maya is quite introverted at heart, and enjoys time to herself with a good book or some emotional anime.

Abilities: 
Æthermancy - Drawing from the energies of the Blind Eternities, Maya is able to bring forth the ultimate illusions from her mind. These illusions can take the form of automated weapons, man-made constructs, or even legendary creatures. Despite being illusions, they become real as long as there is one individual in the vicinity who can see them and who believes in them (Maya herself is not included). If there are no such individuals around, these illusions become purely ephemeral and cannot harm anyone.
 
Planeswalk - Maya can step across the boundary of universes, or planes, as an innate skill. Apart from allowing her to travel between worlds, this also allows her to seemingly walk into nothing, only to re-emerge a few paces away. It is essentially a teleportation skill, but in all senses it is not magic - to a Planeswalker, Planeswalking is as natural as ordinary walking.
 
Blindsight - To survive on the harsh world of Zendikar, every child must learn how to 'sense' the numerous, unseen predators and threats that lurk in the shadows. Maya has developed a sixth sense to detect invisible or normally undetectable people and creatures in her vicinity.
 
Landfall - All Planeswalkers have the ability to draw magical energies directly from the land itself. As long as Maya remains in the atmosphere of the planet, she can continually draw energy from her surroundings without limit. Electronics may begin to break down if she draws too much energy in an urban area.

Background: Not much is known about Maya Iyengar, the Planeswalker, even among tightly knit sorcerer circles. Much of her time is spent off-world, and she rarely makes an appearance. However, a cult following called 'The Enlighteners' have rallied themselves around Maya, each one of them willing to sacrifice their life for her. The Enlighteners consist of both Earthlings and Zendikarians disguised as humans by illusion magic, and have extensive networks throughout the city which the battle will be held in. Rough estimates of the total strength among the Enlighteners have totaled to about 300, although there may be more which are hidden.
 
Miscellaneous: The secret to Maya's Ã†thermancy is well-hidden from the public. Please don't start out with the knowledge that her magic can be invalidated by disbelief. I'd like it if you guys discover it over the course of the RP instead. You can assume that frequent investigations regarding Maya will eventually yield you with this piece of information after a period of time.

 
 

Name: Frank Richards (Champion)

Age: 38

Personality: Unlike Maya, Frank is commonly seen with a deadpan face as he stands behind her with folded arms. He is a professional bodyguard, and thus expresses close to no emotions at all times. He will often advise Maya if she tries to do something foolish, and  can be seen as rather protective over his ward. The only emotions Frank is known to show are: concern, when Maya leaves his sight, and sarcasm, when talking to other people.

Appearance: Think typical bodyguard in a black suit and tie. He is quite thin for someone of his profession, but can move very nimbly and packs a strong punch when needed.

Abilities: 
The Consuming Shadow - Maya's Gift to Frank, this is a supernatural cloak of darkness around the bodyguard which automatically seeks out and consumes hostile magic in the vicinity. It seems to be sentient, and knows how to selectively target magic which threatens either Frank or Maya. It is normally hidden within Frank's own shadow, but can manifest as dark trails of energy emanating from his feet when active. The Consuming Shadow is made from Ã†thermancy and is therefore subjected to the same restrictions.
 
Bodyguard - As a professional bodyguard, Frank is well trained in several variants of street fighting and martial arts, as well as various firearms.

Background: To all official records, Frank worked as a professional bodyguard for seven years, taking up various contracts before becoming Maya's bodyguard. However, the two of them act as though they are very familiar with one another, and often make references to events which happened decades ago, despite both of their ages. It does not take a genius to guess that Frank has a past which he does not make public, but it does take one to find out what that past is.

So, I decided to play a Contender. Because Contenders gonna contend.

 

 

Name: Elaine L. Enfield, the Bloodshaper (Contender)

 

Age: Far older than she looks.Looks around 17-18, probably at least in her late thirties, though it's best not to ask.

 

 

Personality: Oddly enough, Elaine is surprisingly fiery for one gifted with her kind of magic. She tends to be brutally frank and sarcastic in her speech, and values knowledge and skill highly -- those who display talent or great insight gain her grudging respect, but she does not suffer fools gladly. She is very passionate about her work -- one could call her an sorcery geek, perhaps.

 

Appearance: Elaine is rather short, and generally looks like some kid who hasn't quite finished high school. She has shoulder-length black hair tied back into a ponytail, blue eyes and usually wears a white, fur-lined long coat over whatever attire she has on. 

 

Weapons/Abilities: 

 

Alchemy -- The Enfield family preserves the knowledge of this ancient branch of knowledge long after most of its other exponents died, mostly due to poisoning from their own reagents. Alchemy involves the transmutation of mundane materials into matter with magical properties impossible in nature by imbuing them with the power of the Cosmos. Elaine uses it to construct powerful magical artifacts like her rifle and its bullets, which have been enchanted with various dangerous effects ranging from flash-freezing the area of impact, nullifying other forms of magic to simply exploding. In addition, her grasp of Alchemy has heightened her ability to produce Gifts, judging from her sole Champion's large number of specialized Gifts. While the production of magical artifacts usually takes a matter of days to complete, in combat, she can perform transmutation on the fly by loading specially-prepared cartridges imbued with the power of Cosmos into her rifle.

 

It is said that the Enfield family knows how to transmute living matter, a hurdle that has daunted many previous generations of alchemists. This ability is not merely used defensively to heal wounds, but has a variety of offensive uses as well. The ability to re-knit damaged flesh and bone can be incredibly dangerous when used to accomplish the reverse. 

 

Perdition -- Most mages favor staffs of ancient oak or yew, frequently enchanted to aid in their spell-casting. Elaine eschews the traditional staff as her magical focus, instead using a custom-made bolt-action rifle built from magically-fabricated metals and wood carved from a lightning-struck oak tree on her family's ancestral lands. The intricate series of glyphs and enchantments woven into its structure make it act like a focus for her magic, and she can channel power through the specially-crafted bullets she loads it with, although .30 caliber rounds meant for taking down charging Zulu warriors tend to be lethal enough in their own right.

 

In addition, it also has a long sword bayonet forged from the same unnatural alloys its barrel and receiver are made from, enchanted to channel her abilities in close combat.

 

The Coat -- This coat doesn't need a name. It transcends names! It is the ultimate culmination of centuries of research into apparel-related alchemy -- a coat whose every thread has been imbued with defensive magic of incredible power! Its alchemically-woven threads are stronger than the best modern science has to offer, making it bulletproof, heatproof and resistant to many forms of offensive magic, and yet being light, breathable and comfortable in all climates! 

 

In addition, dirt and blood just slides off it like water off a duck's back!

 

Background: The Enfield family has practiced the arts of alchemy for centuries, honing their art to perfection. Elaine is the 15th successor of the family's legacy, and has been head of the family for as long as anyone can remember -- despite her youthful appearance, Elaine has apparently been representing the Enfields in the upper echelons of Sorcerer society for a good portion of the late 20th century. With decades of experience behind her and her knowledge of a coveted and exclusive branch of magic, Elaine's position as a Contender was almost guaranteed. However, she seems to have little interest in the War, and would much rather be left to mind her own business. She fully intends to survive the war, however, and shall fight tooth and nail should the need arise.

 

The Enfields are secretive, and as a result appear to have no public followers among the Sorcerer community. She has one known Champion at present, a man named Leon Browning.

 

 

 

Name: Leon Browning (Champion)

Age: 31 (that's what his (probably forged) passport claims anyway)

Personality: A very laid-back guy, seemingly never without a smile on his face. He often takes on a very informal tone with Elaine in a manner that could be construed as insubordination, but she seemingly trusts him greatly. Generally, an all-around epic wiseass who might talk too much for his own good.

Appearance: A tall, blond man usually seen with a fedora, tinted sunglasses and a grey trench coat. He seemingly never stops smiling.

Abilities: Leon is incredibly skilled with various firearms, explosives and close-combat techniques, and has seemingly inhuman reflexes -- perhaps Elaine has used him as a guinea pig for her body-augmentation alchemy at some point.

 

He has two known Gifts:

 

Gungnir -- Appears as a large high-caliber sniper rifle. The weapon's bullets constitute part of the Gift, giving it a fresh stock of ammunition each time it's summoned. It fires bullets that selectively phase through solid matter, making it near-impossible to defend against with physical means, though a magical barrier could nullify its properties and allow the bullet proper to be blocked conventionally.

 

Hugin and Munin -- A pair of mechanical ravens Elaine built. They can operate autonomously of him, and everything their senses detect is directly linked into his mind, allowing him superior surveillance capabilities. They have a glamour cast over them to make them appear like ordinary birds, so they usually go undetected except by the very observant or those finely attuned to magical power.

 

His third Gift has never seen use, and its nature is unknown.

 

Bio: Supposedly, he is a loyal retainer of the Enfields, and has served Elaine for a good number of years already. His past remains a mystery, however, and Elaine might not be the only Sorcerer he's pledged himself to...

Name: Lucia D'Rossilia, The Regal Seeress
Age:18
Personality: Polite, well mannered, manipulative, apathetic and incredibly entitled. She is a ruthless young woman blinded by her father's ambition. She treats most others with disdain and loathing, managing venomous sarcasm on her best behavior. 
Appearance: Mitsuki-chan~
Abilities:
As a Contender, Lucia is an incredibly accomplished mage. Well versed in the various forms of elemental magic known by other mages, she is incredibly skilled despite her age. Her specialty is a brand of magic called "Tides of Time". This magic allows the user to manipulate the passage of time around non-sentient objects. Lucia can send an object faster through time, causing it to decay rapidly. She can also reverse an object's time, returning a broken or old object to it's former glory. Finally she can freeze an object in time, allowing her time to avoid oncoming attacks from various objects. Used creatively this can have interesting effects. For example used on an object like a tree this can cause the tree to shrink into a seed, or even grow into a colossal obstacle to block a pursuers path. Advanced levels of this ability can even delve into the realm of potential futures, allowing for the manipulation of an objects trajectory or state, creating multiple versions of the object based on multiple potential timelines. Although ultimately only one timeline is realised, Lucia can use these copies to create the most useful opening, before confirming that potential timeline and using it. 
Background: Lucia is the only child of her father, Luxio D'Rossilia, and her mother, Fiora D'rossilia. She is a young woman of privilege and wealth who has trained her skills by utilizing her father's money and connections in order to achieve the finest education possible. As well as being one of the 13 Contenders, she is also well versed in economics, world politics, commerce, philosophy, history and a plethora of other subjects. Her wide range of knowledge has lead her to be a master manipulator who plays people like chess pieces.
 
Name: Eli 
Age: 26
Personality: Quiet. Patient. Obedient. He speaks only when spoken to and does not display much in terms of opinion. 
Appearance: Mostly just because of the hair
Abilities: 
 
Jackal - A pair of black iron gauntlets that take the form of claws over Eli's hands. The true power of Jackal is tied to Lucia's Tides of Time magic. The object provides a unique property that combines past, present and future, to create an evolutionary hybrid. When wearing Jackal, Eli is stronger, faster and more agile than before. He has advanced visual awareness, heightened sense of smell, and heightened hearing as well as dulled sensation of pain. This form makes Eli's features change, giving him elongated ears, a more muzzle-like nose and sharper canines, as well as a considerable change in muscle mass. 
 
Background: Eli has spent his entire life under the servitude of the D'Rossilia family, and has been Lucia's protector since she was 5 years old. He has spent his entire life learning how to combat other practitioners of magic. Due to the circumstances of his role, he has long since learned to hold his tongue and rarely offers opinion or insight into any matters. He considers himself a weapon to be wielded by Lady Lucia, a caged beast sworn to protect her at all costs.

Name: Nathaniel Finnigan (Contender)

Age: 25

Personality: Confident, flirtatious and eloquent, Nathaniel never fails to charm whoever he meets. He is an extrovert, and enjoys spending his time hanging out with girls or tinkering with a World Crystal. He can be considered to be a happy-go-lucky person, and tends to take things lightly, even dangerous situations. However, when challenged, Nathaniel can display a surprisingly defiant attitude towards obstacles.

Appearance:

Abilities: 
World Crystal Magic - The World Crystals are a heavily guarded secret among sorcerers, for even the knowledge of their existence can prove to be disastrous. Each World Crystal, a small, colored shard in appearance, holds the power to generate an entire universe by itself. These new universes are short-lived and will collapse when the energies of the World Crystal are completely drained. In addition, these universes are usually only about the size of a soccer ball, and will generate themselves around the World Crystal, using it as the center.

 
Nathaniel is heir to the secrets of the World Crystals, and is capable of manipulating them to a high level of skill and finesse. He is able to levitate, shoot, and pull back World Crystals in his possession, as well as spontaneously activate them upon successfully hitting an enemy with one. This causes a large chunk of the enemy to be consumed into the created universe, which then collapses upon itself. The World Crystals and the universes that they create are immune to all conventional forms of magic, and are generally considered to be physically indestructible (although they can still be deflected with physical barriers).

Background: Nathaniel was never a very talented sorcerer. In fact, his ineptitude at magic came as a great disappointment to the Finnigan family, who had been silent guardians of the secrets of the World Crystals for centuries. However, despite his limitations, Nathaniel was a hard worker, and made up in skill for what he lacked in pure force. Soon, he became one of the most proficient users of World Crystals that the world has seen, able to manipulate them to an extremely fine degree - to the point of determining what kind of universe the World Crystal would spawn. It was his immense expertise and the unlimited potential of his magic that drew the Lord's attention, and he became a Contender in the 50th war.
 
Miscellaneous: Feel free to interact or battle with Nathaniel, but don't kill him.

Because Sean Bean and I both thought Vanilla Ice was better than Takuto, we have a new challenger! He doesn't like his brother that much -- this might make him a potential ally, or perhaps a mortal enemy.

 

He'll basically serve as Nathaniel's Champion for now, even though he's a Sorcerer.

 

 

Name: Zuriel Finnegan (Wanted to be a Contender, but took a crippling lack of skill to the knee. Is a regular Sorcerer serving as Nathaniel's vassal.)

Age: 30

Personality: In comparison to his elegant, CHARMING brother, Zuriel is rough and reckless, and kind of a bully. He meets most obstacles with all the subtlety and grace of a rampaging Wstfgl, simply using the most direct and brutal methods to overcome the problem. He is confrontational and easy to rile up, which could be exploited as a weakness by others.

Appearance: So "handsome"

Abilities: 

World Crystal Magic -- The World Crystals are powerful and dangerous tools, capable of both limitless creation and boundless destruction. However, Zuriel being Zuriel, he uses it for the latter, naturally.

 

He pretty much uses only one technique with any competence, called "Final Arcana: The World".  He crushes a World Crystal within his hand, enveloping himself in an unusually large constructed universe about seven feet in diameter. From outside, this universe appears to be a translucent, red-tinted orb which slices a hole in anything it passes through, sucking matter that touches it into the void within. Unlike his brother, he can maintain this World for a greatly increased duration of up to thirty seconds before re-emerging and allowing the World to collapse, destroying anything trapped within. The inside of this world is rather boring, mostly consisting of a lightless void with chaotic, fluctuating gravitational forces that slowly tear apart anything that falls in. 

 

Zuriel is practically invulnerable within this world he creates (at least, from the outside), and can even move it around at approximately sprinting pace to form what amounts to a wrecking ball of destruction. However, its main vulnerability is that he is basically blind and deaf when ensconced within the World, and has to re-emerge from the World to see the outside world. Zero points for subtlety, dear Zuriel.

 

Background: Unlike his brother Nathaniel, Zuriel was a naturally talented sorcerer, and managed to win the adoration of his parents from a young age when he demonstrated his ability to manifest Final Arcana: The World at the tender age of 13. However, this attention has spoiled him, leaving him, as his brother terms it, "An arrogant, lazy jerkwad with a stick up his ass." He grew complacent with his abilities, resulting in him having little skill with actually manipulating his World Crystals -- while his brother can create varied effects with his clever use of World Crystals, Zuriel pretty much has only one spell to call his own, substituting its sheer brute power for any degree of skill. Naturally, when it came to the selection of Contenders for the War, Nathaniel was selected instead despite his vastly inferior strength. This made Zuriel, to quote, "Incredibly butthurt", and while he is honour-bound to serve Nathaniel for the duration of the war, he hates his brother and might betray him if he sees the right opportunity.

 

Miscellaneous: If, by any chance, someone does do something to Nathaniel, there's always this guy for Timey to dick around with. Alternatively, you could conspire with him to screw over Nathaniel.

Name: Uriah
Age: 40
Personality: Gentle giant, helpful, loyal
Appearance: Manly Mc Beef; Gigantic proportions

Abilities: Not known yet / Just assume he won't go down easy

Background: Taught Elliot everything he knew about melee fighting, and then some. One of the more helpful older Sorcerers in the fray, he's more than willing to share his knowledge with anyone who expresses an interest in learning. As a man who has seen more than his fair share of war, Uriah is taking the current conflict in his stride. Enjoys a good sandwich more than any other. He's setting up shop as an information broker this time round instead of participating fully in the war, as the man believes the future should be controlled by the youthful ones. Don't cross him and he won't cross you.

 

Champion 1: Sasha

A mysterious child who's serving as Uriah's aide. Wears her hair in ringlets, dons a pastel blue dress. Usually seen perched on Uriah's left shoulder.

Abilities: Rejection - Grants temporary invincibility against any form of attacks. Anyone she touches will gain the same effect

 

Champion 2: Natascha

A mysterious child who's serving as Uriah's aide. Wears her hair straight, dons a pastel pink dress. Usually seen perched on Uriah's right shoulder.

Abilities: Recon - A kind of clairvoyance; She can sense when trouble's coming.

Name: Justin Friesch

 

Age: 23

 

Personality: Charming, eccentric, sadistic, flirtatious. Enjoys playing games.

Abilities: 

 

Sorcerer - As a sorcerer he has a range of magical abilities. His power is nowhere near the level of the 13 Contenders, however he can likely give Champions a run for their money. 

 

Living Doll - Justin uses a type of necromancy to traps spirits within containers he has created. Despite their small and delicate appearance, these dolls are incredibly resilient and operate like drones. They are useful for surveillance as whatever they see is also seen by Justin. Furthermore they can attack by generating spiritual energy and firing it from their mouths. There ability and behavior is based on several formations devised by Justin. He normally controls 16 dolls at one time.

  • Silent Night Formation - The dolls disperse into the night, operating as surveillance drones. Justin can have eyes on a large portion of the city with ease. This formation is not designed for confrontation. 
  • Seek & Destroy - When his opponent is hiding, Justin sends his dolls in packs of four to find the opponent. When the dolls find their target they lay down suppressing fire while the other packs rejoin them. 
  • Harmonious Troupe - The dolls move in synchronised patterns, charging their attacks to deal greater damage. This formation deals the most damage but targets a single location in rapid succession. Only useful during single target conflict. 
  • Chaotic Dance - The dolls swarm individually on the target, firing rapidly, swooping on the target from multiple locations with rapid fire attacks that deal lighter damage. 

 

Background: Justin is the third cousin of Lucia D'Rossilia. While he is related to the Italian Family he is actually Dutch and his family are only related to Lucia's through marriage. While not blood related he is still a competent mage in his own right. He has become one of Lucia's Vassals in order to guarantee her victory in the tournament. His skills rely in sabotage and surveillance.

Name: Lin Junwei, the Emperor

 

Age: 30

 

Personality: Arrogant, condescending, ambitious  and ruthless.

Abilities: Junwei is considered by many to be the strongest Sorcerer outside of the Lord himself. Like many of the other Contenders he possesses skills in various forms of magic, but what sets him apart is his lineage. Raised and trained by the Lord himself and the fact that he is the reincarnation of the first Dragon Emperor himself made him able to use abilities he needed to unite China in his previous life.

Emperor's Will - The ability to overwhelm and dominate other weaker-willed individuals by his force of will alone. Think Haki from One Piece

Qigong - Junwei can control Qi or Chi, which is the invisible life force of every human being. He can channel his own Qi into raw, invisible force that breaks down most magical barriers and allows him to perform the impossible such as running on air and punching through solid walls. In addition, he can also hit selected pressure points on opponents to immobilise them, cause them to experience intense pain or render them unconscious.

Martial Artist - Junwei is a trained master of several different types of martial arts. Together with Qigong, this allows him to physically defend against magical attacks with ease.
Royal Escort - Summons a grand flying chariot pulled by 2 fire-breathing dragons

Imperial Orders - allows him to communicate magically to every soldier in his army for coordination purposes
 

Background: Junwei is the reincarnation of the first Dragon Emperor. His lineage has brought much attention upon him in particular from the current Lord. Theodore recognized the potential in Junwei at an early age and had decided to train him in the art of sorcery himself.

I'm gonna put this here cuz I'm not sure when Kyo's coming back on Skype. Is it okay if I control Lucia and Eli in their fight with Maya after Alisyn makes her post? I intend on slightly wounding the both of them, but Lucia will inflict a major wound on Maya so she will come out 'victorious' at the end. I have some wicked ideas for their battle.

Sure. The key to Eli is to be silent and purposeful. He does not act without reason (nor speak without good reason). So the key to writing him is a bit like typical silent henchman in movies I guess.

As for Lucia just channel your inner Kiryuin Satsuki and you'll be fine. Also the wound idea is okay with me. In this current scenario Lucia is probably at the disadvantage. I feel like Frank could really cause her problems, especially with a transcend.

Maya will not allow Frank to interfere in her battle with Lucia, because she wants to test the strength of her rival Contender personally. So Frank will be battling with Mei and Leon against Eli. And I intend on making quite a few revelations in my next post, which will probably turn it into a novel. Can't wait >: D

Name: Minerva Grimm, Lady Death
Age: 38
Personality: Eccentric, excitable and well mannered. Sadistic, she loves to gloat and taunt her opponents. 
Appearance: A tall and slender woman who wears fur coat with a feathered collar. She has long, ash white hair and thin, bony features.
Abilities: 
 
Death Magic - Minerva is a master of Death magic and Necromancy. She can summons horrific ghouls and undead creatures to fight alongside her. Her delving into the complexities of death have made her a formidable foe with many strange magicks up her sleeve. Most renowned for her signature brand of illusion magic that forces the opponent to live through various horrific deaths. The cycle repeats over and over until the opponent figures out how to break it. While using this type of magic, however, Minerva cannot move, thus it is designed to break the opponents will. 
 
Background: Minerva Grimm is a prestigious mage who has spent her life studying the darkest of arts associated with death. Over the years many have claimed to have taken her life and yet still she walks the earth. Many suspect that Minerva herself is actually undead, and thus unable to be killed. In order to defeat Minerva, one must master death and find out it's secrets before it is too late. 
 
 
Name: Marius Grunwald
Age: 19
Personality: Extremely unhinged. Psychopathic. Erratic. Chaotic. Disturbed. 
Appearance: Marius Grunwald hides his figure behind a large, black trenchcoat. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. 
Abilities:
 
Feel No Evil - Marius feels no physical pain due to Minerva's frequent experimentation on him. This is seen as a double edged sword as Marius is unable to realise when he is grievously wounded, however he keeps going despite injury. 
 
Creeping Death - A large scythe weapon that Marius wields, a Gift bestowed on him by Minerva. Creeping death inflicts toxic wounds on his opponent. These wounds slowly cause necrosis and if left untreated can cause the user to die a slow and painful death. There are no records of Marius' transcend. 
 
 
Background: Marius is a complete mystery. It is assumed that his extremely unhinged nature is due to constant experimentation on his body by Minerva. He has been subjected to her death illusions constantly for years, which has completely shattered his mind. Minerva describes him as the perfect killing machine.
