GRATUITOUS MECHA CARNAGE II: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO

NOW WITH 200% MORE GRATUITOUS EXPLOSIONS, GIANT MECHA AND LASER BEAMS THAN THE ORIGINAL! Which isn't saying much since there wasn't an original

So, this is basically what happens when Timey, Sanzi and I decide to start an RP with mecha and explosions in it. Inspired by Gundam 00 and Metal Gear Rising, mostly. Credit for the original idea goes to Timey.

Setting

In the year 2036, French engineering company FutureTech Industries rolled out a revolutionary product designed for military usage: The ExoSuit. A flexible, lightweight yet sturdy full-body armor suit similar to those seen in the comics and movies of the Iron Man franchise, the ExoSuit provided innumerable advantages to the average soldier. Super strength, enhanced battlefield awareness and invulnerability to conventional firearms were three of its main selling points.

The ExoSuit changed the landscape of war, rendering traditional strategies and weaponry useless. The US and Chinese militaries imported vast numbers of these ExoSuits, hoping to equip every soldier with one by the year 2050. However, in 2045, FutureTech informed the various world governments that a black box had been built into the suits, allowing the company president, Darius Mauro, to disable any suit at any time, turning it into a steel coffin for the soldier within. Enraged, the world governments tried to demand the code from Darius through military, economic and political means. By then, however, FutureTech had grown too powerful, and repelled every incursion nearly effortlessly through a private paramilitary organization equipped with special ExoSuits and the usage of the Black Box Code.

The world governments then changed their strategy. Placing the details of the black box under top secret classification, they worked out an agreement with Darius Mauro. FutureTech would gain immunity to all state laws and regulations, and would remain the sole supplier of ExoSuits, in exchange for him not revealing the Black Box Code to terrorists. It is unknown what secret transactions go on behind the scenes.

However, an organization has arisen to combat the threat of FutureTech Industries -- Vengeance, a shadowy paramilitary organization formed with the sole purpose of breaking the stranglehold FutureTech has on the world's nations and destroying the Black Box Code. Vengeance has an ace in the hole of their own -- a particle with miraculous properties called the Genesis Particle.

Genesis Particle

Known only to a few individuals in the world, the Genesis Particle (shortened to G Particle by some) is a one-of-a-kind particle not found in nature. It is the material equivalent of totipotent stem cells, and is capable of morphing into any other kind of particle in existence, under the right conditions. At present, knowledge and utilization of the Genesis Particle appears to be exclusive to Vengeance and their unique powered armor suits.

Engines capable of generating G Particles, known as Genesis Engines (or G Engines), were manufactured by Vengeance and installed in their own suits, which were constructed using the G Engines themselves. These suits, dubbed as Angel Suits, were not vulnerable to the Black Box Code, as they were not built by FutureTech. They were constructed of materials normally impossible to be found in nature, making them stronger, lighter, and more flexible than the carbon nanotubes used in ExoSuits. In addition, the G Engines installed within the Angel Suits provided them with flight and hovering capabilities through the emission of antigravity particles. Angel Suits have the unique characteristic of never running out of ammunition, due to the G Particles' ability to be converted into spare ammo for any weapon.

There are only a very limited number of Angel Suits existing in the world, and all of them are manned by members of Vengeance. No two Angel Suits are the same, for each one is customized to the Vengeance member wearing it for his own personal combat preferences.

Currently Known Angel Suits:

AS-01 Alpha

The very first Angel Suit created by Vengeance and used as a template for every other Angel Suit. Alpha closely resembles a FutureTech ExoSuit, as it was designed off stolen blueprints. It can fly in short bursts of up to 5 minutes at any time, before its G Particle reserves run out. Without any special capabilities, Alpha carries only a 5.6mm gauss rifle and a standard combat shield. However, it is also the least conspicuous of all the Angel Suits, and can be passed off as an ordinary ExoSuit as long as it isn't in flight.

AS-02 Juggernaut

Juggernaut was designed as a show of force, meant to push the limits of what the G Engine could achieve. It is enormous, being close to 3 metres tall, and houses two G Engines for maximum output. Despite its weight, the Juggernaut is capable of flying for up to 6 hours due to its enormous energy reserves, and can traverse between continents if needed. It possesses a devastating armory of weapons, ranging from the destructive Antimatter Cannon (which launches a ball of G Particles over a long distance, that only converts into antimatter after a certain period of time) to the standard-issue anti-infantry miniguns.

AS-03 Blitz

The Blitz is unique in the sense that it holds eight separate storage tanks for G Particles, each tank capable of converting and releasing all its G Particles in a split second. Through this capability, the Blitz is known for its short, but immensely powerful attacks and incredibly fast movements. The downside to this suit is that the monstrous acceleration the Blitz is capable of would rupture the organs of any human pilot -- thus, only pilots whose original bodies have been substantially replaced with cybernetics can manage such a machine.

AS-08 Seraph

Meant as a fast and adaptive strike unit, the Seraph is designed as an all-purpose Angel Suit that can be further customized or equipped to serve various roles. Its G Engine has a very high production speed of G Particles, allowing the Seraph to replenish its energy within a couple of minutes. The downside to this, however, is the low storage capacity of G Particles. This makes the Seraph more suited towards extended missions and battles, as compared to short missions which require a large amount of power in a short time frame.

The Seraph has two unique capabilities. First, due to its high production speed of G Particles, the Seraph is capable of sustaining high-speed flight indefinitely while remaining invisible to all conventional radars. Second, it is equipped with a tachyon detector, enabling it to receive signals from the future and calculate the most probable movements of any foe in the next few seconds. It does so by constantly emitting tachyons encoded with battle information about the present, sent to the past.

...

Basically, we RP as the members of Vengeance, tasked with bringing down the nebulously evil regime of Darius Mauro. Feel free to come up with an Angel Suit of your own design using the unfilled-in numbers between AS-03 and AS-08 -- no need to stick with the ones listed above. (All of us are using our own special-snowflake variant anyway.) This RP has 1-2 more vacancies left, so if you like writing about guys in nigh-invulnerable mecha suits duking it out with other guys in nigh-invulnerable mecha suits, feel free to join us.

·         Turned into a cyborg; skeleton, vital organs and nervous sytem were replaced.

Miscellaneous: Thinking of an actual background story hurt my brain. SO BULLET POINTS!

Suit: AS-037 Blitz Ronin

History

The high strain the Blitz put upon its user had prompted several redesigns hoping to increase the amount of pilots capable of using the Blitz. Eventually they gave up on the futile exercise, conceding to the fact that they’d need an enhanced human in order to pilot the Blitz, and looked for ways on how to fully utilize the Blitz’s potential which eventually lead to the Ronin. The changed the way the suit operated, to make full use of a cyborg pilot, by adding a spinal plug to directly connect to the pilot’s brachial plexus.

Design

The Ronin was outfitted to make most use of the Blitz’s greatly enhanced physical capabilities. Specializing in melee combat it is equipped with a high-frequency blade capable of cutting through any known material with relative ease and two plasma sabers. Its midrange combat capabilities come from a set of pistols and drones called Fangs, controlled telepathically through the neural uplink.

The Ronin was also equipped with the Mimetic Enemy Movement Extrapolation SystemThe System gathers data on enemy movement and effectively deduces all the information on the enemy’s muscle memory and sends it to the pilot through the suit’s HUD. This data can then be used to effectively predict enemy’s involuntary movements, such as reflexes or other defensive maneuvers.

Weapons and Equipment

VS-13 HF Katana Musashi – The Musashi is a bloodred katana with a high-frequency blade. The blade is reinforced with a powerful alternating current and resonates at extremely high frequency in order to weaken molecular bonds of anything it cuts. The Musashi’s saya contained a rifle mechanism, a loaded magazine and a trigger located beneath the swords hilt. By pulling the trigger the sword is effectively launched out of the sheath to increase the speed and power of iaido techniques.

VS-89 HF Fang – A set of eight drones small enough to fit into the palm of a grown man’s hands. The Fangs are guided weapons equipped with a high-frequency blades and plasma cannon, albeit far smaller than the originals. They are controlled by the pilot through the neural uplink and fueled through the G-particle storage tank that runs along the Ronin’s spine. Every few minutes they have to return to reattach to the Ronin’s spine, their resting place, in order to refuel due to their low fuel capacity.

VS-20 Arm Mounted Supressed Sub Machine Gun – Short range rapid fire weaponry used best for additional support during melee combat. Fires plasma ammo.

Mimetic Energy Movement Extrapolation System – The MEME System (also referred to as the System or MEMES) analyzes an enemy’s movement to decipher muscle memory. By deciphering an enemy’s muscle memory the pilot can find ways to easily circumvent ones instinctive defenses.

The combination of the suit’s extremely high performance and the MEME System make it a formidable duelist.

2x VS-5 Plasma Blades and 2x VS-14 Plasma Pistols – In spite of the Ronin normally relying on its unique equipment, while designing the Ronin’s loadout they decided to outfit it with standard weaponry in case the standard brute force tactics proved ineffective.

ME TOO

PILOTS ARE MERE MEAT FILLING FOR THE MACHINE

AS-028 Juggernaut Hecatonchires

Appearance

The Juggernaut Hecatonchires stands 10 feet tall, with a frame far more massive and bulky than most Angel Suits. The distinctive features of the Hecatonchires model are the massive pylons rising from its shoulder blades, which serve as storage racks for the Angel Suit's complement of drones, and the long horn protruding from its helmet, which houses the communications array for networking with its drones.

History

The AS-02 Juggernaut was built as a show of force, a ten-foot unstoppable mechanical behemoth for breaching seemingly-impregnable defenses and terrifying enemies into submission -- however, Vengeance saw itself as liberators, not as mere terrorists, and the standard-issue Juggernaut loadout was deemed too dangerous and prone to collateral damage for standard operations. As a result, the Hecatonchires, a specialized variant built for surgical anti-Exosuit operations, was commissioned. Due to its increased utility over the original Juggernaut, it has seen far more action than the original model, which waits in storage for the day that its devastating power is finally needed.

Design

The Hecatonchires of myth was a titan with a hundred hands and a hundred eyes, and like its namesake, this Juggernaut variant was built to see all and reach all, cleanly eliminating its targets from long range. It possesses the same heavy armor and dual drive system as the original Juggernaut, but new to its design is a large pair of shoulder pylons, giving it a distinctive silhouette. These pylons house the Hecatonchires' distinctive feature -- the Argus MK-III Distributed-Array Multi-Spectral Sensor Suite. This system is essentially a flotilla of autonomous drones that distribute themselves around the Hecatonchires, uniting their G-Particle based sensors to form a massive sensor array capable of detecting almost any Exosuit in existence from beyond visual range, bypassing conventional ECM methods with ease. This system is used to guide the Angel Suit's deadly weaponry to where it is needed most.

Weapons and Equipment

2 x VS-15 'Arachne' Monofilament Projectors -- The original G-Particle machine guns mounted in the arms of the Juggernaut were deadly, but prone to overpenetration and collateral damage. The Hecatonchires was mounted with these modified anti-infantry weapons, which fire G-Particle clusters which unravel into webs of high-tension monofilament wire when close to an enemy Exosuit, cleanly slicing through their armor and silently carving them into bloody chunks. These filaments lose velocity quickly and slow to a halt shortly after doing their deadly work, reducing the chance that they will hit unintended targets.

The main disadvantage of the Projectors as compared to the machine guns is that the heavier slug projectiles used are subsonic to reduce collateral damage from missed shots, reducing their effective range, fire rate and accuracy. As a result, the Monofilament Projectors are mostly used as back-up short-range weapons if the Micro Missiles are exhausted.

120 x VS-40 'Artemis' G-Particle Micro Missiles -- The chest-mounted Antimatter Cannon has been stripped out and replaced with a series of missile pods recessed into the frontal armor of the Hecatonchires. These missile pods contain anti-personnel guided G-Particle missiles each around the size of a whiteboard marker. Despite their size, the miniature G-Particle tanks within the missiles give them surprisingly high performance, with each missile having an effective range of 13 km. The default payload of each missile is a monofilament canister similar to the one used in its arm cannons, but can be swapped for different payloads, including anti-armor melta missiles and sensor-disrupting chaff missiles.

The micro missiles are surprisingly silent, and enemies often never realize what hit them before they fall to pieces.

VS-8 'Ajax' Plasma Cestus -- the Hecatonchires relies heavily on its smart weaponry for its battlefield role, but as a contingency plan in case the Argus is somehow neutralized or rendered inoperable, the Angel Suit carries one remaining 'dumb' weapon -- its own fists, mounted with plasma emitters to vaporize the armor of enemy Exosuits. This weapon is a last resort, but very effective against those who foolishly assume the Hecatonchires is entirely dependent on its high-tech arsenal.

Argus MK-III System -- The Argus System consists of a swarm of miniature drones that take up position around the Hecatonchires to provide 360-degree situational awareness and operate the Hecatonchires' array of smart weaponry. In addition, each drone is mounted with ECM systems to selectively jam the sensors of any Exosuits close enough to spot the Hecatonchires, rendering the unit surprisingly stealthy.

Each drone has limited G-particle reserves, limiting the 'smart' operational time of the Hecatonchires to around 1 hour before it has to disengage to recharge.

AS-08 Seraph

SeraphSexcalibur.jpg

History

Built by the international terrorist group Vengeance, the AS-08 Seraph was designed to be a self-sustaining, all-purpose Angel Suit that could demonstrate superior flexibility and variety in handling any situation or task. It was first deployed in 2056, where it flew across three continents undetected and singlehandedly massacred an entire battalion of ExoSuit-equipped soldiers who had been terrorizing a local county which had refused to pay taxes to FutureTech. It has a battle record of having never been touched by enemy fire, giving it an infamous reputation even among Angel Suits.

Design

It is said that the Seraph never touches the ground during a mission. Even when idle, its G Engine provides enough power for it to hover a short distance above the ground, emitting luminescent anti-gravity particles behind it to form the image of ethereal wings. The very image of the Seraph is meant to strike awe and wonder into all who gaze upon it, allowing it to become an ideal of the discriminated populace rather than a mere tool of terrorism.

Due to its versatility, the Seraph is often equipped with different weapons to suit the upcoming mission. As such, there are many variants which have been seen in the past.

Variants

AS-08X Seraph Excalibur

This variant of Seraph prioritized image over functionality. Used in the Seraph's first deployment in the United States, it was meant to project the Angel Suit as an unstoppable harbinger of death for all who support FutureTech and a hero to the less fortunate. The Seraph Excalibur is only equipped with two VS-5 Plasma Blades, meant to illustrate its overwhelming strength as compared to the ExoSuit-equipped soldiers as it didn't need any ranged capabilities to destroy an entire battalion.

Due to the low power consumption of its weapons, the Seraph Excalibur projects anti-gravity particles in a much larger radius, causing the 'Ethereal Wings' illusion to become much more pronounced. Small rocks and objects around the Seraph Excalibur may also begin to float spontaneously, causing the whole scene to look otherworldly in nature.

AS-08D Seraph Diablo

A stealth variant on the Seraph which specializes in taking out the target from miles away. The suit's tachyon capabilities are utilized offensively, sending back information about where the target will be at a certain designated time. With that knowledge, the Seraph Diablo is able to set up a sniping location and take out the target with 100% accuracy. Because of the secrecy of its missions, the Seraph Diablo rarely activates the 'Ethereal Wings' effect.

AS-08J Seraph Jaeger

The standard outfit for the Seraph during missions which are deemed too risky to use Seraph Excalibur. It is more heavily armed than its Excalibur variant, having a VS-30 Heavy Plasma Rifle, 2 VS-14 Plasma Pistols, 2 VS-5 Plasma Blades and a VS-2 Anti-Ballistic Shield installed by default. The tachyon analyzer system can be configured between assault mode, whereby the future information is used in the suit's weapon targeting systems, and defense mode, where the future information is instead fed into the auto-avoidance system.

AS-08Z Seraph Infinite

A top-secret project known only to the minds behind Vengeance, the Seraph Infinite is rumored to be a version of Seraph many times more impressive than Jaeger, reserved solely for the day when Vengeance finally takes down Darius Mauro and FutureTech Industries.

Pilot of the AS-08 Seraph, Kurotenshi

Name: Takeshi Fukagawa (Kurotenshi / Black Angel)

Age: 25

Background: Takeshi was one of the pioneer batches of test-tube babies produced in Tokyo, as part of a top-secret project to create super soldiers designed to pilot the ExoSuits more efficiently than regular soldiers. On top of enhanced reaction speed and physical strength, these super soldiers were also given superhuman resistances to rapidly-changing G forces, allowing them to survive up to 12 Gs without suffering from internal hemorrhaging.

After he was deemed as a success, Takeshi Fukagawa was given the codename "Kurotenshi", or "Black Angel", and was trained to be one of Japan's elite soldiers. He was deployed successfully in many various exercises, and was eventually slated on a route to become the leader of the Neo-Samurai squadron. The name of Kurotenshi soon became known far and wide as the incredibly talented Japanese ExoSuit pilot who was ranked among the world's top #10.

His fate changed drastically on the day Operation Checkmate took place. A unified assault upon FutureTech Industries by the United States, Russia and Japan, Takeshi was sent along with a large portion of the Neo-Samurai in an attempt to wrestle control of the Black Box Code from FutureTech. Despite his ExoSuit being disabled near the beginning of the conflict, Takeshi discarded it and managed to hold his ground armed with nothing but his ExoSuit's weapons, giving the FutureTech militia a hard time pushing back the invaders.

Just as Takeshi was about to lead a platoon and break through into the main building, the unit arrived.

It was a new ExoSuit, never seen before by the world. Wherever the unit pointed, violent explosions would kill everyone caught in the blast. Even advanced weaponry simply bounced off the suit's seemingly impenetrable defenses as it singlehandedly cut a swath through the assault team. Takeshi was determined to fight back, but when he saw the devastation of his troops and the unstoppable nature of this new ExoSuit, he knew that it was impossible to turn the situation around. And so, he fled.

Kurotenshi was recorded to have been killed in action that day.

Nowadays, he lives in the United States, working in a car repair workshop. Takeshi no longer works for the Japanese military, but he still continues the battle against FutureTech under the name of Seraph. He must lie low for now, but when the time comes... the world will quake at the return of the Black Angel.

Personality: Many who have crossed paths with Takeshi before describe him with a singular adjective: "Hopeless". Barely surviving on the meager pay that he gets from his workshop, he constantly defaults on his rent as he shifts from place to place, having a rather bad reputation among the landlords. He has an unhealthy obsession with Japanese pop culture, especially with anime and moe girls. Despite being as fluent in English as he is in Japanese, Takeshi has a bad habit of purposely lapsing into phrases of rapid Japanese, much to the frustration of anyone conversing with him.

Only two people have cared enough about him to remain as his friends thus far: The repair boy at his workshop named Kenneth, and a young woman by the name of Tiffany whom he met at an anime convention several years ago.

Name: Werner von Stroheim

Age: 32

Appearance:http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Monsoon_MGR.jpg

Background:

Werner was formerly an operative of one of the many PMC conglomerates FutureTech used as fronts for its shadow reign, and gained great infamy for carving through swathes of enemy ExoSuits in FutureTech's efforts to suppress all resistance against them -- they nicknamed him the CrimsonTyphoon for the withering blizzard of stunningly accurate firepower that was his calling card and his habit of eschewing camouflage in favor of a distinctive red and black color scheme on his ExoSuits. However, it was during Operation Checkmate when he finally saw the lengths to which FutureTech would go to preserve its power -- when he'd witnessed the horrifying new ExoSuit tear apart the Neo-Samurai limb from limb and mercilessly execute fallen soldiers, he finally came to the conclusion that becoming a monster himself wasn't worth the dental plan, and decided to sever ties from FutureTech.

His employers had other plans, however, and triggered a neurotoxin capsule meant to destroy his ability to pilot and ensure his talents were never used against FutureTech. The neurotoxin ravaged his nervous system, blinding him and rendering him partially paralyzed, but Vengeance somehow managed to track him down, and offered him a chance to pilot again with the aid of their cybernetic implants, and take revenge on the corporation that had ruined his life. He accepted, and now leads the charge against FutureTech's PMC lackeys in his customized machine, the AS-028 Juggernaut Hecatonchires.

Personality:

Werner might have been a former hired killer in service with a bloodthirsty monolithic corporation, but he has tried to put his past behind him, and generally comes across as one of the more professional, well-adjusted members of Vengeance. He is surprisingly erudite and well-read for a hired gun, and has a tendency to use unnecessarily poetic or esoteric turns of phrase. However, his calm exterior harbors a burning hatred for FutureTech, and he will stop at nothing to see them utterly destroyed.

Miscellaneous:

Relative to his comrade Rainn, Werner is relatively unaugmented, with the only permanent augmentations he has being the visor connected directly into his optic nerves that replaces his lost vision with input from Hecatonchires' Argus System, increasing his perception by a thousandfold, and a neural interface connected to the exoskeletal suit that allows his paralyzed body to keep moving and provides additional protection while he is ensconced within Hecatonchires.

I like our new title better. Gratuitous violence appeals to everyone.

Except pacifists. And draft dodgers. And victims of said violence. And French-Canadians.

No offense meant to any French Canadians of course.

Either one of you can kill off the mooks that were firing at Seraph, or undertake some completely different mission, it's up to you. The whole scene was meant to ripoff the first episode of 00 anyway, when the Exia destroyed the Enact.

As per tradition, mech first, human filling later:

Name: AS-01 Alpha [Agent]

History:

The original AS-01 Alpha prototype was not far advanced from the ExoSuit designs in use by FutureTech, with only a basic inclusion of G Particle equipment to test compatibility. Once tests proved successful, the development team was free to abandon the limited FutureTech design in favour of original designs that made better and more specific use of G Particle equipment, leaving the Alpha unit to gather dust in storage.

However, after an intern mistook it for a genuine FutureTech ExoSuit, an idea arose for a covert ops ExoSuit that could work amongst FutureTech suits undetected. While the mere physical similarities were useful on their own, G Particle technology could also be applied to provide visual and radar stealth. Coupled with the latest electronic and cyber warfare technology, it would serve as the perfect discreet unit for assignments where brute force was not enough.

And so the AS-01 Alpha was recreated in the form of the [Agent] design. The [Agent] name is known only be those with the highest security clearance - to all others, it is known as just another Alpha. The knowledge of existence of the suit would undermine its key function.

Design:

The [Agent] appears as a typical FutureTech Exosuit model. It has a single discreet G Engine tucked away internally, and no flight capabilities. Its outer plating is coated with a clear membrane that reacts with G Particles, allowing light to be bent around the suit, resulting in invisibility. Due to the compact size of the G Engine, and lack of storage space, the invisibility effect can be used for a maximum of 10 minutes total.

It contains a full suite of Electronic Warfare systems; able to jam and counter all sorts of electronic systems and EM frequencies. Its Cyber Warfare abilities allow for hacking of most systems via universal connectors in the suits fingers, and its database contains a number of unique viruses created and reserved specifically for use by the [Agent]. Additionally, the database includes an extensive repository of known FutureTech and world government codes, protocols, and personnel, designed to equip the pilot with all sorts of information they may need to blend in.

The shield that is part of the basic FutureTech design has also been repurposed as a hidden satellite dish. Once the [Agent] accesses vital data or systems, the shield can be deployed to transmit huge data loads at rapid speeds.

Because of the tendency for a covert unit to be deep within enemy bases and vulnerable to capture if discovered, the [Agent] unit's G Engine is designed with an automatic self-destruct function. The pilot must enter a code once an hour or it will activate.

Weapons and Equipment:

GHOST Membrane - Outer coating that enables invisibility when reacting with concentrated G Particle emission.

EW/CW Suite - Electronic + Cyber Warfare systems, both defensive and offensive.

Standard 5.6mm FutureTech Gauss Rifle
Standard FutureTech Combat Shield - Modified to double as a satellite dish with extensible antenna.

2 x AS-90 HF Hidden Blades - High-frequency retractable blades concealed inside each wrist.

With this suit, it's now Gundam 00 + Metal Gear Rising +  Assassin's Creed + TF2 (disguise + limited invis + sappin' electronics = Spy).
