Explicit lyrics warning!

Lyrics

[intro: Nas]

Crack fucked up the world, and I wonder if they realized the damage

I mean, they come from an era who made a lot of money of that shit

I wonder if it fucked with their conscience

It fucked with me being out there, I couldn't stand it

I couldn't stand seeing people fucking themselves up like that on the shit

And that's where the money came from

[Hook: Tyler The Creator & Frank Ocean]

48, 48, 48 states I get it in

48, 48, 48 states I get it in

They call me Mr. Treat Your Nose

If you really need some blow

I can get it for the low

[Verse 1: Tyler, The Creator]

Shit is getting warmer on that corner

Gotta watch out for them 5-0 foreigners

Your mother is a goner

I warned you before you supersized my fries with that dollar

You got a daughter, shit's getting harder

The only thing you wanna bunk her was your freedom

You can't afford to get caught up but you in too deep

And the seashore ain't saw ya

You got a mother, she don't support you

But you bought her a new house cause you love her

Growing up you barely had a roof

Now you got a coupe and it doesn't have a roof

I guess you’re accustomed what you’re used to

So you bought two, nigga

They coming for you, nigga

Niggas be hating I'm doing them bitches

Like Susan and Karen be doing your pockets

And running the man and he's losing his fucking mind and it’s all an illusion

Who was alludin' all of this potent

I am the reason your family is using and shooting up, it’s my fault

You can blame me motherfucker, for killing your aunties and uncles

The hustle and hunger, all I wanted was a cheeseburger

And a little chain, tuck, didn’t realize this game fucked up some lives

“Oh, how’s mine?†-- my conscience eats it up all the time

But other than that I’m fine, I got a little money in my pocket

[Hook]

[Verse 2: Tyler, The Creator]

Nigga, we broke as fuck

Homie got a chop shop I stole that truck

And I sold that dope

Motherfuckers hope this nigga go broke

But like my work I give no fucks, I’m sorry

She could have been a doctor, nigga, I’m sorry

Could have been a actor and won that Oscar, said, I'm sorry

I sold that soap and I killed black folk, I’m sorry

But I got a nice car, put my sister through school

While my momma all cool, I'm sorry

I'm in too deep and I can’t see the shore, I'm sorry

[Outro: Nas]

You get addicted to the flip, we used to call it

You get addicted to the flip, the transaction, the hustling

Even more than the money, it's just your job

You feel like it's your duty to be the man in between the man

And make this happen for that person, and to do this and do that

You become the go to guy forever and next thing you know you’re in too deep

Way too deep, scare the shit out of you

You wind up with so much work, that you'd be scared to death

It's important for us to realize man, we gotta get out of that, man

Dudes is buying choppers to shoot down people that look just like them

Dudes is buying guns to take down each other, nobody wins

Ya know what I mean?

Tyler, the Creator is currently one of my favourite artists. His rapping has always been solid (as long as you manage to get over the controversial lyrics), but my main criticism has always been his production. His beats have always been very simplistic, but then he released his latest album; Wolf. Instead of going for the simple drum, bass and monotone piano keys Tyler stepped up on the producing and delivered 18 distinct sounding songs. ‘48’ is the epitome of Tyler’s evolution as a producer.

Tyler likes telling stories in his albums and Wolf is no different. It tells the story of a group of people with mental illnesses (who are basically all just multiple facets of Tyler’s personality) at a camp. Each song tells the story of one of these people during what I assume is a group counseling session.

48 delves into the mind of a drug dealer. The things he had to do for himself and his family, the guilt he feels over it and the eventual realization that no matter what he does he is stuck in this life and there is no way out for him.

I can name dozens of songs catchy enough to get stuck in my head randomly, but I can’t think of a single other song with lines that haunt me long after I stopped listening to the song on the merit of their strength.. That is, in my opinion, the best way to describe 48 and Tyler’s lyrical talent.

Day 2: 1000% Sparking

Once again I don't have a history for this song because I don't watch Negima. XD I found this song while playing Beats, and I thought it was pretty great, so I downloaded the whole song eventually. ...Other than that, I don't really have much to say about this song. Enjoy!

I guessed you'd use that.

I'm enjoying listening to all these songs so far! I've of course heard Cobalt Sky before. I expected an Aoi Eir song to come up at one point or another, so I shall join Wstie and call Octy PREDICTABLE anyway.

Also, anime has sensitised me to underskirts. I could see some of those girls' butts, almost, in 1000% Sparking.

I missed Day One, but I love dramatic musicals, so I'd choose Red and Black, from Les Mis.

To me, it's such a powerful song, with the students singing on the eve of their doomed revolution. They truly believe that the people will rise with them to overthrow the corrupt government, and in this moment, they are invincible. The songs that follow up afterward in which they are brought back to reality but continue to fight for their beliefs as they fall in the flower of their youth make this whole set very poignant, in my opinion.

As for Day Two... numbers... Two Beds and a Coffee Machine, by Savage Garden

I personally haven't had experience with this (I think), but this song has a depth and meaning that I enjoy. Domestic abuse is sadly more common than most people believe, and especially when you have kids growing up in that kind of environment... the song just encapsulates the feeling of helplessness. Every escape is only temporary, because you can't keep running away forever and you have to eventually go back if you don't have the ability to provide for yourself and your children.

Wow, awesome MV for The New Black Gold, DragonGuard. It's the first English song in my playlist now, since I nuked my iTunes library and started over.

51% is one of the better UVERworld songs I've heard. Home Binetsu 39 Degrees Celsius is pretty good too.

Aoi Eir is great to listen to as usual, although the MV's boring as hell. And oh my god, I've forgotten all about 1000% Sparking!! *downloads it immediately*

By the way, for those of you who are putting up MVs (especially Japanese ones), please include the English lyrics too! It'll give my eyes something to do while listening to the song, or I'll tab elsewhere and be distracted.

48 is swee-eeeeet. Political lyrics, mm.

Two Beds and A Coffee Machine is great too. My favorite kind of MV. *drops into Download Cart*

Eh, for myself, I initially wanted to use 99% by Bowl (one of the OPs for Yu-Gi-Oh GX) because I'd like to keep to a theme of some sort, but I guess there's more than ample representation for the Japanese. Then I thought about Two Perfect Moments from the movie Super

Anyway, don't click away until you've heard the chorus.

3 Rounds and a Sound by Blind Pilot

They're playing our song

They're playing our song
Can you see the lights
Can you hear the hum

Of our song
I hope they get it right
I hope we dance tonight
Before we get it wrong

And the seasons
Will change us new
Be the best I've known
And you know me
I could not be stuck on you
If it were true

I was sleeping
My eyes were dark
Til you woke me
And told me that opening
Is just the start
It was...

Now I see you, til kingdom come
You're the one I want
To see me
For all the stupid shit I've done

Soil and six feet under
Killed just like we were
Before you knew you'd know me
And you know me

Blooming up from the ground
Three rounds and a sound
Like whispering you know me
You know me

So this was our song
This was our song
I still see the lights
I can see them

And the criss cross
Of what is true
Won't get to us
Cause you know me
I could not give up on you

And the fog of what is right
Won't cover us
Cause you know me
I could not give up a fight

Soil and six feet under
Killed just like we were
Before you knew you'd know me
And you know me

Blooming up from the ground
Three rounds and a sound
Like whispering you know me

You know me

Unfortunately, I can't say much about this song, except that it was used in the tv series Californication. And I usually don't follow music artistes, so I can't say anything about them that you can't find on Wikipedia.

Technically it is day 3! So a song that reminds you of summertime.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]

I feel the water flow as I watch him go

Boy life is cynical despite my heart of gold

Oh no, buddy don't you cry as they go

Life changes all of us, it's not your fault, no no no

[Pre-Chorus]

Oh oh oh

Where the sky is blue forever

Oh oh oh

Where did they all run to?

Oh oh oh

Where the sky is blue forever

[Chorus]

Love is a dangerous business you know

Who's gonna care for your bleeding soul?

Take a run, take a run with me

Where the sky is blue forever

[Verse 2]

And dear buddy don't you cry when she goes

Cause life is cynical despite your heart of gold

Oh no, buddy don't you cry as they go

Life makes us critical and all, we gotta change the course

[Pre-Chorus]

Where the sky is blue forever.

I don’t listen to a lot of music with a summer feel, so this prompt is probably the hardest out of the entire list for me. It was made even harder when I gave myself the added challenge of not being allowed to pick the same genre twice in a row, considering that most of my songs that come close to having a summer feel are hiphop.

Eventually I picked this song, because it’s mellow rhythm makes me want to sit back in a beach chair with a nice cold cocktail. Of course the repeated phrase ‘Where the sky is blue forever’ adds to the song’s summer feel.

Yes, I am going to blatantly ignore how truly depressing this song really is despite sounding upbeat. Yes, we’re also going to ignore that I dream of spending my summer drinking a fruity beverage while listening to this girl tell me how sad she is about how unfair life is treating people who deserve nothing but the best.

I’m not evil, I promise.

I'mma just give the 'obvious' one, but I'll also provide one that I really wanted to put in that wasn't the super stereotypical Summer music.

Maybe it's just me and I've always had this romanticized view of Ancient China in my head, but I love picturing like, Three Kingdoms Era at peace with Lu Bu just sorta having a drink in a comfortable outfit with his lovely Diaochan. I will forever love Wstie for being my lovely Diaochan.

Although I don't really like green day or anything, this always reminds me of a summer in Italy with my parents. We had a radiostation there which had about 3 songs, which were 'wake me up when september ends', 'bad day' (Daniel pewter (this wasn't by James blunt???)) and 'big black horse and a cherry tree' (KT turnstall)

So those three will always remind me of vacation in Italy, and thus summer. Although Green day the most, because I haven't really listened to that song after the vacation...

Another that comes to mind is Heavy cross, which reminds me of a vacation in Slovenia...

Good memories :D

Well, this will always have a summer feel due to the beach locale of the video (also the first line of the actual song is apparently "It's summer!"), although they picked a pretty awful day to shoot if it's meant to be summer-y. Either way it still evokes the feeling of hanging out at the beach during summer with friends (although I never do that and don't like the beach so :F).

Skip to 1:27 when the song starts if you don't mind missing the riveting storyline.

Also since Eth prefers lyrics (if you meant translated, I can't find any): http://flow-fun.ucoz.com/index/nuts_bang/0-108

Just had a listening marathon, hooray.

Red and Black was great! I was mostly distracted by the Japanese subtitles though. XD

And Savage Garden has a great voice! Yeah domestic violence of all sorts are indeed pretty common, and they vary a lot, though the media tends to propagate one prototype.

3 Rounds and a Sound and XXX88 are both surprisingly great songs. Surprisingly because I don't listen to a lot of English songs so whenever I find those I like I'm just pleasantly surprised. XD

Also, Moments of Peace is great! It has such a Chinese feel to it, and I can really imagine sitting in a pavilion in summer drinking wine and viewing the river while making some poetry.

DragonGuard's songs suddenly take on a new meaning now that they're associated with summer like that. XD

And Nuts Bang!! is really good for a B-side. It totally can be turned into an anime song too. And it's convenient that the screencap happens to be at one of the more appealing scenes. ;D

Joe Hisaishi's work captures that pastoral, serene feel of Totoro so well. Also quite a nostalgic piece for me since Hayao Miyazaki's films were my gateway to anime.

Which means that you can blame Miyazaki-sensei every time I post horrible JoJo parody fan art.

Hot damn, DD, those skin-tight shirts and bulging muscles! This has got to be the best fit for today's theme! And make that Flow's best MV EVER. *checks under pants to verify that he hasn't grown another pair of nuts*

For me, a song that reminds me of summertime has to be careful it doesn't remind me of spring instead, so it's definitely gotta be…

Romantic Summer by Sun & Lunar

Lyrics

The summer wind strikes my hair

Is it my imagination? My premonition of love...

At the sparkling hot summer beach

There was a late-blooming lonely maiden

Who didn't take off her straw hat, lalala~

A strange guidance; the ebb and flow of the tide

If we can meet as if dreaming, ah~

The midsummer is Romantic! The shore is also Romantic!

The sunshine is also Romantic!

Run up the high waves

I'm Romantic! You're also Romantic!

The whole world is Romantic!

And don't mind the sunburns

(Summer Summer Love)

I want to decide

The tune of the rolling and swaying waves

A only baby who looks down

Dips her bare feet into the star drops, lalala~

An insolent bargaining; the moon's waxing and waning

It's simply an one and only chance, oh~

The midsummer is Romantic! Tears are also Romantic!

The night wind is also Romantic!

The fireworks shoot up

I'm Romantic! You're also Romantic!

The whole world is Romantic!

And seem to burst in suffering

(Summer Summer Love)

I want to fly

This song (and the particular link I've chosen) was the OP from the anime, Seto no Hanayome. It's a summer love comedy that is also the funniest comedy anime I've ever watched (thanks to an Arnold Schwarzenegger-expy). Anyway, nothing says summer like beach episodes, heheh.

Wstie, that instrumental was great. I love Joe Hisaishi's stuff, especially Howl's Moving Castle. I didn't think much of the Totoro movie, but it has its aesthetic benefits indeed.

Ether your lyrics were for the full version but you only linked us to the TV size~.

Kyo the song and the picture give a very urban summer feel, mm~.

For me, summer is about beaches, but more importantly, summer is about CUTE GUYS AT THE BEACH.

Hava Rava [WaT]

Actually I'm kidding. I don't need summer to think about cute guys.

I'm sadfaised that this video has all those silly black borders, but if you squint the cuteness is still apparent. Koike Teppei is always the cutest guy in my book, and Wentz is also cute by association. This video is about Heartbreak Vacation, basically, where these 2 guys have broken up with their girlfriends and they're like "WHO NEEDS GIRLS WHEN WE'VE BEACHES" which sums up summer very well, doesn't it?

Lyrics:

Throwing away a piece of an
Aimlessly lost love, into the sea
If only it could turn into a memory
Like the passing season, before too long

The popping sea spray and sun
We're a couple of guys, who are losers
The sandy beach overflows with lovers
And the two of us are probably floating about very lightly

Oh yeah, you can't just go around
Oh yeah
Feeling down, you've got to have fun, and take a bite out of summer
Thanks, as always, to the sun

Beneath the super clear sky
The two of us just act quite simply, like idiots
Though we're faking being cheerful, though we're just pretending to be tough, let's have fun
Forgetting about time passing by
We're floating in the very middle of summer
I want to have fun until the sun sets, just like kids
Our password is
Hava Rava (Hava Rava)
Hava Rava (Hava Rava)
Hava Rava

The waves that wash ashore, accumulate in my heart
Vestiges of love come back to life
Back on that day, she slapped me
And now, I can still feel that pain

Oh yeah, after all, I'm still
Oh yeah
Not so grown up that I can enjoy pain
I'm still looking for love

It seems like the sky is falling
We've been laying down in the sand, looking up at the sky
I want time to stop just like this, forever
I hope that one day, above us
An angel of love swoops down
That's the wish that I whispered into the midsummer sky
Like an incantation
Hava Rava (Hava Rava)
Hava Rava (Hava Rava)
Hava Rava

Oh yeah, after all, I'm still
Oh yeah
Not so grown up that I can enjoy pain
I drag vestiges of her along with me
Even now, I still love her, after all
My heart is spinning round and round

The sky is colored by the far away setting sun
A summer that passes by in friendship, turns to twilight
Only the sound of waves gently envelop us
Forgetting about time passing by
We're floating in the very middle of summer
I want to have fun until the sun sets, just like kids
Where are the pieces of my lost love
Right now, in the passing summer sky?
My heart overflows with the things that I've grasped ahold of
They really are important things to me
Of course, there is a love that I can't forget about
I now realize this, as we begin to walk
Our password is
Hava Rava (Hava Rava)
Hava Rava (Hava Rava)
Hava Rava

Ahhhh, how can Kajiura Yuki be so great? Rider was really a great character in Fate/Zero. Him and his bickering with Waver was a large part of the charm of the show.

Also yes, Vanishment This World reeked of chuunibyou.

As for me, well, this is the song. Unfortunately YouTube doesn't have it, so you'll have to click on the link and sit through the horror that is Dailymotion. That said, the song is nice, even if the theme isn't.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xb2iyt_yell-irino-miyu_music?start=1

Yell [irino Miyu]

I've had some past experiences that I would rather forget, one of them being when I did a temp job as a telemarketer. The people in there were nice enough, but they fired me cuz I looked at Facebook too often, and also didn't generate enough leads for them. And, well, I'm really not a very persuasive kind of person. So the month where I worked there was very stressful, because I'd make 60 calls a day and all 60 of them would tell me to stop calling back.

So where does this song fit in? Well, it was during that time that I got Irino Miyu's album, and began listening to his songs on loop. Being very stressed, I'd listen to them on my way to and from work, but since then they've become associated in my mind (stupid classical conditioning!) and I can't listen to this song without remembering my days in telemarketing.

By the way, Irino Miyu is my favourite seiyuu ever. He voiced Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series, Reiji from Phantom ~Requiem For The Phantom~ and Syaoran from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. Oh, and Tadakuni in Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou too. The one who didn't really talk much out of the 3. >.> (but it's okay the other 2 were Suzumura Kenichi and Sugita Tomokazu)

Lyrics:

The morning of departure for journey, I suddenly made up my mind
I sing an important song at the meeting place

Even for painful time and happy time
We spent various days cry and smile

If there's a time you become discouraged
I will send my smile to your heart

Let's trust each other's dream
Use the future that we hold onto to
Make sure we can smile when we meet the next time
How-ever the painful tomorrow's waiting for you
Trust self that go past it to forward

Under the blue sky, a sunflower is waving
Running through the way back home that the bright light coming down

The feeling that I couldn't tell you that time
Just one yell, hope to arrive to you now

Even if how far we are apart
Let's try our best for the surely connection on our hearts

Let's not forget
the path we walked together like that day, don't stop there and continue running
How-ever the painful tomorrow's waiting for you
Trust self that go past it to forward

Passionate thought right now tell to the future

Let's trust each other's dream
Use the future that we hold onto to
Make sure we can smile when we meet the next time
How-ever the painful tomorrow's waiting for you
Trust self that go past it to forward
