Activities

1. In order to become a TV host, I must be able to interview people from different countries. I set out to learn both basic French and Japanese.

2. SSU had such a variety of clubs and I couldn't decide which to join. Eventually I settled on the Literary Society, the Anime Club and SSU Campus Radio. It would help me make all kinds of friends in this daunting place.

3. I also volunteered to help foreign students settle into life in Surreality, by telling them about what the town was about and serving as a sort of guide and buddy.

Shawn

Shawn was a new student and we were put in the same project group in school. He seemed to already be friends with a lot of my friends, through the SSU dorms. He was taking Psychology hoping to learn more about criminal psychology, and while that wasn't my focus, I was still interested (who isn't?) in getting to know criminal behaviour, and so we both poured a lot of hard work into the project.

Franz

Even though Franz wasn't with us anymore, I continued to send him emails and talk on S*ype. He did take a hard beating from life and I was pleased that he was using it as a source of greater motivation. Someday I shall be just as ambitious as he.

Kiara

College is the time of break-ups and new hook-ups. I heard that Kiara and Weston had broken up and wrote letters to Kiara hoping that she was alright. She is a strong girl though so I knew I didn't need to worry.

Dayvid

Dayvid had decided that he wanted to stop working and study to become a teacher in the future. He went to college in a locale near his home, and we could share studying tips and experiences so it was much more relatable.

Test Season

Of course I had to cheat. Geez. Had formulas and tips written everywhere. Replaced my cola bottle's label with a duped one, with cheats written in the nutrition box. Hid some extremely condensed notes in my shirt. Made full use of my peripheral vision. Sam's unstoppable.

Forgery

Need that one 'A+' grade to save your butt from your parents' wrath? I got it covered. Transcripts, certificates, referral letters from professors? I can fake it all. My dorm room was literally packed full at one point of time, when the senior batch was graduating. Earned enough 'tips' to go on holiday for a day or two.

First -real- job!

Been moonlighting as a member of the Family after Tachi gave me the A-OK. First duty on hand - sneak into local police station and steal incriminating evidence against Abruzzo's Noodles's... laundry practices. I wrapped a black tee around my head all ninja-like that night, and slipped right into the station. Turns out I wasn't as badass as I thought. The alarm rang, I hauled ass, etc. Managed to snag what the bosses wanted though. Now the SPD is on the look out for a black clad adult with a Sailor Moon graphic teeshirt. No regrets.

Shawn

New friend time! Criminology student. Why did I befriend him again?

Emma

Life can be tough when I'm juggling work, studies, and relationship at the very same time. Sometimes I'd grab some drinks from my stash and scoot off to where ever Emma's practicing. Made a mental note to open a live bar when I'm old/rich enough.

Max

Cocktails at night, coffee at mornings. I'd beg request him to make lattes with those cool drawings on it. I almost wish my stomach had eyes, just so it can behold the beauty of the beverage it's digesting.

Weston

Sometimes I'd talk about Weston with Max as an easy conversation starter. We didn't have a lot in common. Either way, things eventually progressed to the stage where I'd take Instagram snapshots of Max's lattes and tag Weston in it. Posted one with Weston's portrait expertly drawn in milk foam and cocoa powder. He wasn't as amused as I hoped.

Activities:

- MIT is not a forgiving place, as I'm up against the best of the best across the country. I didn't have much so much time for my creative hobbies, as I had to study all the time to make sure I stayed at the top of my game.

- Students around here are expected to learn on their own, but thankfully, MIT provides for its own. I spent many of my afternoons in the library reading about the latest developments in physics and engineering. The future is already here, it seems... but I doubt I'm ever going to get that hoverboard from Back To The F*ture that I thought was so cool back in eighth- No, I can't let Kuro Noir resurface again!

Oh god I said his name I feel dirty

- I learned that my family had a history of heart disease, so I decided to start working out more to improve my fitness. Can't make my mark on the world if I drop dead before 40, since everyone knows the world's secretly ruled by old, rich white men.

Interactions

- Hannah -- She was my old friend from town for many years, and it only seemed right to keep in contact though I had moved on to so-called greener pastures. While she seems to have majored in some wishy-washy thing of dubious employment value, she's smart, and I probably wouldn't need to counsel her on how her life's going. It's not like I'd be the most qualified of people to talk about that anyway.

- Samantha -- I'm still in contact with her. She sends me pictures of Max' lattes, and somehow I feel a little envious I'm not around to try them out. I'm sure they taste amazing. But just what on earth does she do that she's out every night on weekdays?!

- Allie -- The Surreality crowd took several of the same classes, since we were all in math-related fields. I got to know Allie better in this time, especially through all the times Tachi, her and I argued about math problems. I have the nagging suspicion she secretly hates me; perhaps it's envy... Or perhaps it's because I'm an asshole and everyone around me has been too polite to notice until now.

Nah, the latter's preposterous.

- Literary Girl A -- So I decided to go to the park to take in some fresh air and read a good book on a particularly picturesque evening, and took a seat on a park bench thankfully free of bird droppings. And lo and behold, all of a sudden I found this cute girl around my age standing behind me, holding a book and looking all pensive. I decided to ignore her for a bit, and go back to my book... when she suddenly remarked, "The wind is sorrowful today." For a moment, my mind went blank, and I almost went into the tried-and-tested 'clam up, sweat profusely and recite prime numbers mentally' routine I sometimes lapsed into when confronting strangers... but some horrible compulsion stirred in the abysses of my mind that refuse to accept I'm no longer He Who Shall Not Be Spoken Of and took hold of me; I couldn't help but say, in my worst mock-philosophical voice, something I would regret forever.

"Nevertheless, this wind... is sparkling."

I still have nightmares about that moment to this day.

Shawn

He was the new guy in town and made friends pretty quickly. We would debate about what really made good music for hours and so often that it became a regular display for SSU.

Franz

Our relationship may not have ended well, but we still kept in contact. Hearing about his life in Dusseldorf left me nostalgic of the time we spent in Germany years ago.

Sammie

I can't remember half of the things I ever do with Sammie but I do remember the hangovers. What lesson have I learned? Sammie is the best drinking partner, obviously!

Hannah

What can I say about Hannah? I don't know! Does she want to be a TV host? Does she want to be a psychologist? Anytime I tried to get an answer from her she'd get me to talk about something completely different... without me even realizing it!

Activities

- While in SSU, I became dedicated to my studies. It was rough at first and some of these questions didn't make any damn sense, but the more I got in the swing of things the more my grades were improving.

- My band disbanded for college so it was back to me myself and I. I went back to my old habit of practicing a multitude of instruments, even picking the drums back up.

- It had been a while since I performed solo and for my first couple of shows I was nervous. All that's in the past, though, and I looked forward to all my bookings and being able to play my own material for once.

Relationships

Shawn - I met Shawn at SSU as we lived in the dorms together. I decided to make an effort to get to know him in order to break out of my shell. I was at college now which meant new experiences and new friends.

NekoNyan280 - With high school exams out of the way I began to speak with my favourite online friend some more. We started playing a Japanese MMORPG called Innocent Sin.

Samantha - Since we were at the dorms together I decided to get to know Samantha. We had never really spent much time together in the past, but College was bringing out my sociable side and I wanted to make new friends.

Tachi - I talked a lot with Tachi over email. He was pretty smart so I normally came to him if I was having any issues with my accounting elective. I also rendered technical drawings of robots and mecha based on schematics he sent me. I think he might actually want to build them one day.

Franz - Franz has been through a lot and despite our distance I still sent him emails regularly to let him know he still had people who cared about him back at home.

Activities

- Since I started supervising the coffee bar I used my creative skill to start making coffee art in my cups of coffee. The customers seemed to like it. I began chatting with customers quite often and after a while I began to pick up how they were feeling. I'd lend my ear to customers who seemed sad, and I'd encourage those who seemed happy or excited about something. By taking notice of people Im beginning to relate to them more.

- I applied for a job at a screen printing studio as a silk screen printer. The money was a bit better and it was more related to my career goals. The studio also had a gallery and had public viewings at the weekend where artwork was sometimes sold. If I could get this job perhaps I could try to sell some of my art and gain some recognition. Not to mention I could socialise with people in my industry.

- My art course was almost second nature to me. So I spent most of my study time working on accounting. Numbers aren't my strong point but after a while I began perceiving a pattern in how it all works. Only time will tell if my studying is paying off though.

Things slowly started to rebuild around me. I soon had no need for my anti-depressants and after a few test weeks I came off it. Living in Germany has been a good choice in my part. It gave me time to really think about things and move on. Emma and Max were constantly sending me letters which made me feel cared for even though I was thousands of miles away. Having to focus on speaking German had a small effect on my voice as I slowly started to sound like I had an accent from speaking entirely in German day and night. I knew things would change, and mostly for the better.

Interactions

Emma - Sending me letters was a grace I couldn't thank enough for. I missed us being close, but I was slowly getting across that void. We've been close for so long this separation has simply made us more like siblings than lovers now. I wouldn't change this now. I have someone I can always turn to. I got a cell phone during this year and used it to call her now and again along with...

Max - A brother to me he was turning out to be. He was just as worried about me as Emma was, and that truly helped me. I told him that I'd see if I could arrange him a visit here. My grandparents living here were graciously offering to bring him and Emma over for a Christmas in hopes to meet them.

Hannah - The sweet girl that never gave up on me. She always has a kind word to say and a warm heart to open. She's given me such confidence in the last several months I've even had the drive to aim for a political position after college in hopes to one day help bring the world a little closer to peace.

Grandpa Geosseph and Granny Helena - My father hasn't been heard from in a long while so they have stepped up to help me. They let me stay with them and they helped me get a job at a local bakery. The money is okay, but getting to know the people is what helps the most. They find me to be a sweet boy, and I wish to make them proud. My mother has simply stopped talking to me...from what I understand from her last letter she and my step-father have moved away from Surreality and have had a child of their own. So she wanted to start over. I feel I've been dropped many a time, but I'm realizing who is willing to help me pick myself up.

----------

Activities

Swimming - Once again, at Dusseldorf I joined the swimming team. I had more motivation to be good at it and as such was getting faster and better.

Bakery Worker - Thanks to my Grandpa and Granny, I was given a chance at a job at a local bakery owned by some of their old friends. They themselves are getting on in years and needed a new pair of young hands to help them move things around in the store, work the register, and sometimes bake if a large order comes in. So they're giving me a shot.

Political Peace - I took a serious focus on this during college. There were specialty classes to speak on behalf of nations, industries and the like, and it opened my eyes in how the real world works to aid the many by being a single man taking the responsibility onto his shoulders. It's a tough set of classes, but I've been studying and working on speech writing in some free time. I hope it pays off.

After Inigo's untimely death, Allie changed her mind and accepted the offer to attend MIT rather than SSU, wanting to leave the town that was now filled with so many painful memories. On the bright side, her mother was happy about the switch, even if the reason for it was tragic.

1337h4x0r and Null

1337h4x0r introduced me to another online friend named Null who knows even more than he does. They're both teaching me now, and I can beat 1337h4x0r eight times out of ten in our hacking battles. I've really improved since we first met! They've even suggested an offline meeting sometime, but school is keeping me busy for once, so I haven't been able to arrange anything.

Professor Melbourne

After I proved my skill to Professor Melbourne, she agreed to hire me as a research assistant in her Artificial Intelligence (AI) studies. It's in the very early stages right now, but I'm looking forward to seeing just how far we can go with it.

Dr. Elaine

My new therapist. My old one recommended that I continue to see a "professional," especially after "the tragedy," so I eventually settled on Dr. Elaine. She's nice enough, but I don't really want to talk to her about Inigo because she didn't know him at all and just talks in platitudes when "the tragedy" comes up. I have to lie to her a lot because of my hacking, too.

Activities

- My interest in web design has run its course, so I modified what I accepted for my job, offering programming as well as design. I've had some sketchy requests that I turned down, but the innocuous ones I try to complete.

- I'm spending a lot of time in Professor Melbourne's lab, continuing to study psychology, sociology, and programming as well as starting neurology and philosophy. There's a lot of work in trying to apply them practically as well to various programs. Maybe someday I can make an AI Inigo--the thought makes me cry sometimes, because it reminds me of that movie we watched together.

- Of course, I'm still studying with 1337h4x0r and now Null. They've guided me through a lot, though it's mostly hacking low security websites and computers. Although I'm a fast learner, we're taking it slow and cautiously so I don't actually get caught and in trouble.
