The roman "wwww" is pretty much the equivalent of 'lol'.

I think they use katakana for onomatopoeia, don't they? So it won't be written in hiragana.

Such a good point. Totally forgot about that! >.<  ハハ. not as pretty...

Should have been 'the more you knowwwwwwwwwwwwww'

Anyway, I've found this book called 'chineasy' which I still haven't bought. It should teach you Chinese in a somewhat different way and it seems rather fun.

So I wanna try to learn it that way.

That's actually somewhat how they teach it in my classes, showing how characters combine and how the shapes are modeled after what their meaning is. Of course, the drawings aren't as nice or colorful as that, on a whiteboard with just black.

The same for Japanese including the more complicated characters that combine different ones. So "suki" is a mother and child who are hugging each other/love each other.

The same character for "su" in "suki" means "good" in Chinese. We interpret it as saying a woman is only good when she has a child. XD

It does get harder later because a lot of Chinese/kanji words don't follow much logical structure.

Actually looking at the site for the thing Yasuraka is talking about, it warns on one of the characters related to women that there's a lot of such offensive meanings behind characters involving women.

For instance I saw the one for "argument". It's two woman figures, with the explanation that "whenever two women get together, there'll be arguments"

Dunno man. None of that sounds very offensive to me.

It's all just the truth.

I've gotten up to "Is That So?" which I have to subscribe to read. Right now I'm doing drills because I know I have a hard time with Katakana.
